The Dillsburg Area Public Library is in the beginning stages of planning a Mitten Tree for the 2017 Holiday Season. From Thanksgiving until mid-December we will be collecting new hats, gloves, mittens, earmuffs, and scarves for New Hope Ministries to distribute to families in need in the Dillsburg area.
The basic idea of a Mitten Tree is to decorate a normal Christmas Tree with donatable items instead of ornaments. It provides the library a chance to meet its goals of community impact and establishing lasting partnerships with other community groups while assisting those in need.
We would like to see our tree covered with donations! Anyone wishing to donate can bring new, unwrapped items to the library lobby and help us decorate our Mitten Tree during our business hours. We are hoping that some of our younger friends will also help us decorate our tree with donations during our annual Polar Express Party!
