Job Searching

The Dillsburg Area Public Library recently held an Online Job Searching! If you weren’t able to attend, here are some of the highlights:

You need to look around: There is no one place to find your perfect job. While job websites like Monster.com and Indeed.com are good sources of jobs, they don’t list everything. Some employers will only post on their specific website or a limited number of places. You will need to look around and do the work to find your next job!

Local newspapers have local jobs: The local newspaper is still a tough place to beat to find local jobs. Harrisburg based PennLive.com has a really great jobs section, while the York area newspapers use the PaJobFinder.com platform.

Never overlook CareerLink: CareerLink is the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s employment assistance agency. CareerLink has offices all over the state, including in York and Carlisle. They have an excellent job board, JobGateway, as well.

Never underestimate your local library either: York County Libraries offers a wide array of online resources to help you with your job search. We offer Learning Express to help you study for an ace a wide variety of tests. We offer Rocket Languages to help you with your language skills. We offer access to ebooks and eaudiobooks on job searching, resume writing, and interview prep.
